Damage in the False Bay Ecology Park

What the Toll Road will destroy

The pictures shown below were given to me by a person that had visited the park in the company of people from the UK that were keen birders. These are just some of the fantastic shots they managed to get during their brief visit.

Pelicans

How often does one see Pelicans in the Western Cape? Ironically, the only three places where I have ever seen them are all in the path of the road - Westlake, Rondevlei and Blaauwberg.

Flamingos

The occurrence of species like the flamingo make this a sought-after international birding site. Money spent by birders in the False Bay Ecology Park uplifts the whole community. The money made by the toll road development will provide jobs for some while making everybody else poorer.
