Pelicans
How often does one see Pelicans in the Western Cape? Ironically, the only three places where I have ever seen them are all in the path of the road - Westlake, Rondevlei and Blaauwberg.
Flamingos
The occurrence of species like the flamingo make this a sought-after international birding site. Money spent by birders in the False Bay Ecology Park uplifts the whole community. The money made by the toll road development will provide jobs for some while making everybody else poorer.
